The American brand Hart Schaffner Marx is known by some men because President Obama favored their suits when he was campaigning for office in 2008, even wearing one during his inauguration. Headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, right outside of Chicago, the company is turning 125 years old this year and they’re planning to release a capsule collection for Fall/Winter 2012 of seven pieces designed by Joseph Abboud, who’s currently the company’s chief creative officer. In the meantime, check out the video above created to celebrate their anniversary — it’s a testament to the company’s history of crafting American-made clothing in the same factory they’ve had for more than century, featuring plenty of archive advertisements, cool sketches, and heritage tailored clothing worthy of a second (or third) glance. It makes sense that our president approves, especially when Abboud puts it like this: “We’re bringing the past to [men] — not as a museum, or an archive, but as a living brand that’s moving forward into the future.”

President Barack Obama seems to have the support of one hip-hop legend when it comes to raising taxes on the rich: Jay-Z.
Shawn Carter — the multiple Grammy Award-winning rapper and producer better known for his stage name — said in an interview Friday that he personally isn’t bothered by the idea of paying more taxes.
“I wouldn’t mind paying more taxes if it went to the things that really mattered. If it went to education, people [in] poverty and if it went to the right things,” Jay-Z, whose net worth has been estimated near a half billion dollars, said on CNN. “It should be clearly defined … where all the money’s being allocated. Because you can understand paying so much for taxes and then things not improving, you’re like, where’s everything going to?”

PEARL HARBOR at 70 A grateful nation delivered a heartfelt message Wednesday morning to the dwindling number of survivors of the Pearl Harbor attack: Rest easy. We’ll take it from here. Allow us to repay the debt by carrying your burden. On the face of it, the 70th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack wasn’t all that different from previous commemorations. A ceremony was held overlooking the picturesque harbor. And a moment of silence was observed, as is traditional, at the precise moment that the Dec. 7, 1941, surprise attack by the Japanese began, at 7:55 a.m. local time. Read the full article HERE
